Land Securities has exchanged contracts with Ealing Council and submitted a planning application for the £100m redevelopment of the London borough’s Film Quarter site.

The group’s initial proposals for the Film Quarter comprise a 35,000sq ft multiplex cinema and 45-50,000sq ft of cafes, bars and restaurants linking New Broadway through to Bond Street with the creation of new open pedestrian streets and a Cinema Square. This square will host an event space facing a giant video wall.

Subject to planning, the cinema could open in late 2017 with the development completed by 2018.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing council, said: “We are firmly committed to Land Securities building Ealing’s new cinema quarter and won’t wait a day longer than needed to get this scheme back on track. We hope a negotiated agreement can be reached as quickly as possible but are prepared to use our CPO powers if necessary.”
