Restaurant operator Gondola has leapt straight into The Sunday Times Top Track 250 of private firms at number five.
New restaurants took sales to an annualised £396.8m in 2006 and executive director Harvey Smyth plans to open a further 25 to 30 this year.
William Grant & Sons slips down from 10th spot to 23rd, with Erdington Group up marginally from 59th to 58th and brewer Charles Wells breaking in at number 210, just four places above Daniel Thwaites.
Tragus squeezes in at 246th.
