Heineken UK has appointed Jos van der Burg, chief financial officer for Heineken Russia, as its new finance director, M&C Report understands. Van der Burg, who was chief financial officer at Heineken Russia, one of the brewer’s largest operating companies, since 2008, replaces Ronald den Elzen, who is taking up the role of managing director of the company’s Portuguese business. Den Elzen was a key part of the integration process when Scottish & Newcastle was acquired by Heineken and had been previously tipped as a possible managing director for the UK operation after the departure of Jeremy Blood in 2009. Van der Burg, who will take up his new post 1 April, will join the UK management team and will report to Stefan Orlowski, managing director, Heineken UK. Van der Burg, who joined Heineken in 1990 and, prior to taking up his role in Russia, he had held a number of senior management positions at the group, Brau Union in Austria and the Amstel Brewery in Hungary.
