High-end dessert café franchise Heavenly Desserts is to open its first international store later this month, in Canada.

The business will open a dessert parlour in Mississauga, near Toronto, with plans to open sites in Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Calgary over the next two years.

Heavenly Desserts currently operates 42 sites in the UK and already has other master franchise agreements in place for countries including the US, Pakistan and Denmark.

Heavenly Desserts’ joint managing director, Mohammed Imran said: “We will finish the year with close to 50 UK stores and our first international store which is an extremely exciting feat for our team, our customers and our family of franchisees – who have dedicated much of their time and efforts to creating a brand which prides itself on delivering luxury in both customer experience and in taste.”

The business is looking to accelerate its UK store opening rate to 20 sites next year, up from 15 sites annually, joint managing director Yousif Aslam told MCA in October.

It recently opened its first central London site, on Baker Street, followed by sites in Glasgow and Canterbury, and will be opening soon in Brighton.

Heavenly Desserts also recently partnered with Seeds Consulting in order to help push its franchise model out across the EMEA.

The menu includes a new tapas dessert option and vegan choices, as well as its signature croffles (croissant waffles), and globally influenced items such as a twist on the traditional Mexican milk cake, and Asian-inspired mochi balls in a variety of flavours.
