Giraffe, the Tesco-owned casual dining chain, has launched a pod concept for use at pre-opening locations for its core formats where applicable.

The pod, which offers breakfast, paninis, soups and afternoon tea, has been launched at Tesco Extra site in Wisbech, where Giraffe is set to open its next site this April.

The 51-strong group will follow that with further openings in Cheam and Milton Keynes, as it looks to open up to 10 sites this year.

The company will make its first foray into an out-of-town site after securing a unit in the new £4m leisure terrace at the Kingston Centre in Milton Keynes.

It recently secured second site in Scotland, after taking a unit at the West Regent Street development in Glasgow.
