Feng Sushi, the Japanese restaurant and take away concept backed by Luke Johnson, is to launch a new grab and go format later this year, with plans to expand the concept across the capital, M&C Report understands.

The eight-strong group, which is led by Silla Bjerrum, has secured a site in Kings Road, Hammersmith for the launch of the new format for an opening this summer and hopes to add a further two units before the end of the year.

The new site will also house a delivery unit, which will open before the grab and go format near the end of March.

Bjerrum told M&C Report that the new format would provide an expansion vehicle for the company but didn’t rule out opening further flagship restaurant sites going forward.

She said that group was looking for A1 and A5 units for the format, which will have between 15 to 20 covers and a more limited menu.

“2013 was a year of consolidation for the business,” she said, “but we are ready to push forward with our growth plans this year and are excited by the new format’s potential.”

The group launched a grab and go menu at its Notting Hill Gate and Kensington sites late last year.
