Costa Coffee is understood to have teamed up with airport food & beverage operator Airfoods, a Grupo Enasui subsidiary, to make its debut iin Spain at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport.

It is thought that under the new franchise agreement the company will initially concentrate on transport hub openings in country before expanding into thecity and town centre market.

The group’s debut site in the country is located at the Terminal 1 northern terrace.

It is thought the next site under the agreement will open at Alicante El Altet Airport.

The company is set to trial six pilot Costas in Paris this year, following the opening of a franchise site at the Gare du Nord and hopes to have 500 sites in China by 2016.

It currently operates over 1,700 units in Europe.
