Thai street food concept Yaay Yaay is on the lookout for its first permanent restaurant in London, co-founders Paula Saekhow and Gotti Tongpoondle tell MCA.

Yaay Yaay currently operates six food stall locations across the capital: Victoria Park Market, Balham Lates, Queen Park Lates, and Kerb’s Gherkin, Seven Dials, and West India Quay markets.

Following their success at markets, the co-founders are considering a central London location for their first permanent restaurant in an area with high footfall and a mixture of office workers, tourists, and students.

Whilst they find the “high energy” and sense of community rewarding at their market locations, a high street location may be on the cards for the future, according to Saekhow and Tongpoondle.

“The margins are decreasing but we haven’t seen a significant drop in demand,” Saekhow says. “Our ingredients prices have gone up, but we try to be affordable.”

The brand has sold c20,000 pad thais since opening at Seven Dials Market in April this year.
