Chipotle Mexican Grill, the US-based burrito chain, is to open its third site in the UK after securing the former Otarian restaurant in London’s Soho, M&C Report understands. The company has taken the site in Wardour Street, which closed earlier this year after the quick service vegetarian restaurant concept pulled out of the UK. Chipotle, which operates close to 1,100 internationally, opened its second site in the UK in London’s Baker Street in September. The company opened its first London site, in Charing Cross Road, last May - this was also its first in Europe. M&C Report understands that the chain, which is led by Jacob Sumner in the UK, could be building towards a pipeline of up to 20 sites initially here. The company is close to opening its first site in Paris and is also looking at opportunities in Germany.
