West Berkshire Brewery has extended its crowdfunding campaign for a second time after overfunding in its £1.5m pitch.

The group has currently raised over £1.7m from 644 investors. It said that due to “exceptionally high demand” the Seedrs campaign would remain open until 24 June.

The company said demand had soared after MCA revealed it had purchased a new £3m custom-built brewery and secured its first London pub, Shillibeer’s, earlier this month.

Chief executive Simon Lewis said: “We are delighted to have secured this funding which will enable us to set up and run our new brewery, as well as running the extremely popular Shillibeer’s pub. We have huge plans for West Berkshire Brewery and we want to give as many people as possible the chance to join us on our journey, so we have decided to extend our fundraising campaign for a limited time.”

The crowdfunding initiative is part of a wider fundraising project to raise £4m to fund the expansion of the brewery via both the Asset Match and Seedrs platforms.
