State of Play Hospitality has reported record numbers over December, with group sales growing 25% vs the prior year.
The experiential group, which operates Hijingo and Bounce in the UK and Flight Club in the US, hit new daily or weekly sales records in 11 of its 15 venues in December.
The operator’s main driver of growth was its US business, with same-store sales growth of 7% in December.
In the UK, Hijingo performed well over the past 12 months and delivered same-store sales growth of 12% in December. However, Bounce was behind the prior year.
The company further said it will not reopen Bounce Old Street this year, instead focusing on higher growth opportunities within the portfolio. State of Play is in exclusivity to assign the lease.
For the year to March 2025, State of Play reported revenues of $60m (£44m), including same-store sales growth of 5% for its US business. Venue-level EBITDA increased 32% over the period, while group EBITDA more than doubled.
State of Play signed five new Flight Club leases during the course of the financial year: New York, St Louis, Seattle, Dallas, and Cincinnati. Flight Club Cincinnati, which opened in December, is the group’s 10th Flight Club venue in the US and the brand’s 30th globally.
The group opened four new Flight Clubs in 2025, and continues to explore opportunities for a second Hijingo in the UK as well as a first in the US.
State of Play secured an extension of its debt facilities with Santander to $32.5m (£23.8m) in June 2025.
Toby Harris, CEO of State of Play Hospitality, said: “As a group we’re delighted with our progress over the last year and we’re excited for 2026 with four new Flight Clubs set to open, including a flagship venue in New York. Our performance is testament to the hard work of our exceptional teams on both sides of the pond, and we continue to be disciplined in our approach to growth.
“After more than a decade of successful trade, we have taken the decision to close Bounce Old Street, marking the end of a chapter. We’re very proud of what the venue achieved and grateful to all of our UK team members, past and present, who brought so much ping pong infused joy to so many.”
