Flight Club, the social darts concept, has secured £15m of new growth funding as it looks to further expand its core brand and launch a new concept called Electric Shuffle.

It is understood that a group of industry experts has invested in the concept. The new round of funding is believed to have featured existing investors, including TDR Capital founder Manjit Dale, who recently joined the company’s board.

As first revealed by MCA in March the group is to open its first regional site in the former Burger & Lobster unit in Manchester this autumn, and will also open a third site in London in Nova Victoria.

Private equity groups Piper and Lion Capital were believed to have shown an interest in the current two-strong Flight Club.

Ashcombe Capital advised on the fundraising.

Steve Moore, chief executive and founder of Flight Club, said: “This is the third fundraising that Ashcombe have put together for us in the past three years. Right from the beginning, they understood our business and our long-term vision. Once again the Ashcombe team have structured a great financing for us from a group of industry experts and we look forward to working with them on an ongoing basis, as the advisers who have the best experience in this space.”

The group is also in talks to take a site in Birmingham’s Temple Street for its eponymous brand.

The company hopes to launch its new shuffleboard concept – Electric Shuffle – next year, with a site near London Bridge believed to be under consideration.

MCA revealed in June that Flight Club was working with advisers Ashcombe on securing new funding, in part to develop new concept, Electric Shuffle.

On the two new sites in Manchester and Victoria, Moore said: “We’re on a mission to get the whole country playing Social Darts so we’re incredibly excited to be expanding in London and joining the Manchester community. Both venues offer exciting opportunities for us.”

“Manchester is renowned for its outstanding heritage, unique culture, vibrant social life, and of course, competitive spirit so bringing a Flight Club to the city is a natural step for us, and we’re buzzing to be a part of the community.

“Across our existing venues in Bloomsbury and Shoreditch we’ve now had over half a million people throw 41 million darts, we’re always being asked to bring Social Darts to more locations in London; Flight Club Victoria provides the perfect opportunity to do this.”
