Escape Hunt has become the first “escape room” company to list on the London Stock Exchange.
The company has floated on AIM through a reverse takeover by Dorcaster, an investment vehicle, in a £14m placing.
Founded in Bangkok by entrepreneur Paul Bartosik in 2013, Escape Hunt comprises 214 escape rooms in 28 franchises from Hyderabad to Dallas.
The company has appointed Richard Harpham, former managing director of Harris + Hoole and head of strategy at Pret A Manger, as its new chief executive.
Harpham said: “We are delighted to have brought Escape Hunt to the market. This business is a global leader in ‘escape the room’ games, a fast-growing experiential leisure sector, and is now better placed than ever before to deliver its ambitious international roll out strategy. We look forward to expanding our owner-operated network as well as working with our franchise partners around the world to further expand the franchise network and develop our bespoke adventure experiences for our customers.”
Escape Hunt has no sites in the UK but is planning to open eight by the end of the year.
