POD, the London-based grab-and-go concept, has appointed Andres Sanchez, formerly of Itsu, as its new head of operations.

Sanchez joins the 24-strong group after 13 years with Itsu, including the last three as operations manager, where he was responsible for the operation of 12 sites around central London with a combined turnover of £15m per year and 150 employees.

In June, POD appointed John Moulton, formerly of Vital Ingredient, as its new finance director

A month later, it reported half-year like-for-like sales growth of 7%.

The Alex Young-led group said EBITDA increased by 11 percentage points (pp), an improvement of £900,000 on same period last year

The improvement followed a difficult H1 2017 where Pod made an underlying EBITDA loss of £400,000.

Meanwhile it said its delivery business had grown 36% in the first six months of 2018.
