Pinkberry, the low-fat Korean frozen yoghurt concept known, is set to make a return to the UK, over a year after it closed its two remaining stores here.
M&C understands that the brand, which operates from c230 stores across 21 countries, is set to open a site at the Intu scheme in Derby before again looking to expand further across the country. It is thought that the group has secured a new, as-yet-named, franchisee for the UK.
Known in the US as “crackberry” for its apparently addictive qualities, the brand has failed to have the same impact in the UK, after its two previous sites here were placed into administration last year.
Administrators at PwC appointed Savills to advise on the sale of the concept, which launched in the UK in July 2011 and had sites at Westfield Stratford City and Bluewater .
Robert Moran, Mike Jervis and Stuart Maddison of PwC were appointed on 1 July 2014 as joint administrators of Marnixheath Limited, which operated under the La Senza and Pinkberry brands in the UK.
Pinkberry had previously spoke about its intention to secure up to 12 standalone stores of between 1,000 sq ft and 1,500 sq ft in London and the south-east.
