Itsu is to ramp up its regional expansion over the coming 12 months, with the company targeting opening another 10 to 15 sites outside of London.

The 57-strong company will open its next regional site at the end of August in Reading, while further openings are being lined up in Leeds, Manchester and Bristol.

Two weeks before the Reading launch it will open its latest site in London, after securing a unit at 47 King’s Road, Chelsea.

The Julian Metcalfe-founded business opened its first site outside London, in Oxford, two years ago, and has since opened in Brighton, Cambridge and Stansted Airport.

Last year, Metcalfe told M&C that Itsu had the potential to increase its UK estate 10-fold and reach 500 sites. He said the group had another 30 sites in its pipeline.

Said Takhamt, director of development, said: “We’re excited to be introducing our ‘eat beautiful’ concept to Reading. The demand from customers who travel from Reading to London has been a huge driver in opening up here.

“Our customers want amazing flavours from the Far East; high in nutrients yet refreshingly low in calories and saturated fat. We’re proud to offer protein packed, healthy and ethically sourced food to satisfy breakfast, lunch and dinner, all freshly prepared in each Itsu every day.”
