M&C takes five-minutes to talk to Martin Dewey, founder of Crowdcube’s latest pitcher Square Pie, about a dramatic plate of fish & chips and the pressures of the property market.

What’s your main business priority for the coming 12 months?

Closing our pie bond which we launched last week on Crowdcube and focusing on making our restaurants even better and spreading the word on our lovely mini pies we call Canapies.

What is the best marketing campaign you have seen this year?

I think Lidl do a great job in their marketing away from their sites.

Where did you have your best meal this year?

Fish & chips at the Lord Tredegar pub in Bow, just before my wife’s waters broke in the pub or steak and cheese Square Pie, fresh mash & gravy at Glastonbury Festival.

Which business in the sector provided the best experience?

Dishoom, the Kings Cross one is fantastic. Only during off-peak though, I can’t stand the queuing.

What is your main concern for the sector?

Too many people chasing too few sites.

Which other business (any sector) would you most like to run and why?

Camden Town Brewery, great beer and brand, what’s not to like.
