Belfast, Bristol, Brighton, Bournemouth and Manchester have been named by CBRE as top five growth cities for leisure, food and beverage, by CBRE.

According to analysis by the real estate advisors, the cities that performed well were ones with expected increases in household disposable income, consumer spending, and employment.

Larger, regional cities such as Birmingham, Leeds and Newcastle appear in the top 10, as these cities show no signs of diminishing in terms of attractiveness and consumer spending power.

Belfast led the rankings, coming at #1 for consumer spending growth and #2 for retail and leisure employment growth.

CBRE reports: “Despite periods of economic hardship, squeeze on spending and slow growth, the leisure industry has fared well and proven itself resilient to headwinds.

“Growth in household income, consumer spending and retail and leisure spend, means consumers will reconnect with leisure and social activities that they value the most.

“Ultimately, enjoying a drink in the local pub, visiting the cinema or theatre, or taking part in a fitness class will continue to be a priority for consumers, and the leisure sector will remain key contributor to local economies.”
