International noodle chain Wagamama plans to open 12 new sites over its next financial year. The company is set to open its latest UK restaurants on 10 April in Norwich, the ninth opening in its current financial year. Further international franchise sites in Copenhagen and Istanbul will open on 14 April and during May respectively. According to Steve Hill, chief executive, there is potential to open between 100 and 120 sites in the UK with the existing Wagamama format. There are currently 57 sites across the world, 38 in the UK and 24 in London. The company has also announced the addition of two new desserts to its restaurant menus; tamarind and chilli pavlova - a sweet spiced tamarind parfait with a crunchy meringue base, served with a spicy red chilli jam, and mango, curry and coconut parfait - a fresh mango and iced coconut parfait with a hint of curry, served with a tangy mango sauce.
