Tortilla has entered into a partnership with Growth Kitchen to roll out multiple delivery kitchens in the coming years.

The partnership follows the success of Tortilla’s Growth Kitchen hub in Balham, and will allow it to expand its network and enter new areas away from the high street.

The move is in line with the burrito brand’s strategy to capitalise on the delivery-friendly nature of its products, which supported its resilience and strong performance over the last two years despite the pandemic.

Growth Kitchen, which last week secured £3m in seed funding, is described as a leading food-delivery start-up building smart satellite kitchen networks.

Andy Naylor, CFO and commercial director at Tortilla, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Growth Kitchen, as we continue to find more innovative ways of getting our quality product to our customers as quickly as possible. Growth Kitchen works extremely well both commercially and operationally and our team love working at the hubs. We can prioritise the cooking and Growth Kitchen handle the rest.

“It’s a great way for us to continue to grow our business, testing new areas while increasing our density in existing markets. In collaboration with the team, we will be able to use multiple data sources to analyse, identify and select a pipeline of potential additional areas that will help drive the expansion of our hubs throughout the UK, and we’re looking forward to seeing where the partnership takes us in the coming years.”

Máté Kun, co-founder of Growth Kitchen, said: “It’s crucial in today’s market of convenience for restaurants to embrace delivery as a new, growing revenue stream as opposed to just seeing it as an added service and we’re thrilled that Tortilla shares this vision with us.”

The co-founders of 10-minute grocery delivery app Gorillas backed Growth Kitchen in the investment round.

Ronny Shibley, Jörg Kattner and Felix Chrobog, who was also a GM for Deliveroo, took part in the £3m seed funding round for Growth Kitchen, with the investment led by PactVC.
