The Robot Pub Group (RPG) has fitted its first installation in Australia and is gearing up for its biggest ever project in the UK, M&C has learnt.

Director Phil Neale told M&C the use of technology in pubs was building momentum as customers increasingly demanded immediate service.

RPG’s most recent project was the installation of 36 self-service beer taps at Rorkes Beer Wine Food in Darwin, which opened for business on 5 September.

The system – comprised of one ten-tap beer wall, two six-tap beer walls and seven rBar tables, each featuring two self-service beer taps and iPad food and drink ordering – is the first self-service bar system in Darwin and the biggest installation of its kind to date in Australia.

The company’s next project will be a 40 tap installation at Liaison in Chelmsford, which will take it to 15 across the UK.

Neale told M&C: “Technology is changing the way people live and means they expect technology to help them have things delivered instantly. This is exactly the same – it is using technology to avoid queues at the bar and that is an attractive option for a lot of people.”
