Mobile order and pay app Wi5 has seen an upsurge in new hospitality partners as operators plan for reopening.

Multi-site operators including Pho, Pizza Pilgrims, Boxpark, Drake & Morgan, Puttshack, Ole & Steen and Aubaine have all signed up to the service, which will allow consumers to order and pay at table when sites reopen, limiting contact and therefore potentially making sites more ‘covid-secure.’

Wi5 is already being used for collection services in the likes of Pho and Crepeaffaire, and the business has said it expects to see an increase in daily usage as it rolls out the technology ahead of 4 July.

“With reopening tentatively set for 4 July, we’re excited to partner with so many great restaurants, bars, pubs and hotels whose customers will imminently be ordering and paying safely and securely from their own devices, whilst adhering to the industry’s new social distancing and hygiene guidelines,” said Prask Sutton, Wi5 CEO.

“We’re proud that Wi5 is playing such a formative role in Hospitality 2.0, but also that ordering and paying through Wi5 contributes to a great eat-in or pickup experience.”

In April, a consumer survey carried out by Wi5 found that of 500 UK adults, 59% would be more likely to use their own mobile or order and pay from a table post-lockdown than they would before the coronavirus crisis.
