Cook-at-home recipe kit service, Gousto, has raised £10m to enable it to compete more fiercely with rivals such as HelloFresh.

The group has secured backing from BGF Ventures, Unilever Ventures, MMC Ventures, Angel CoFund, and Barclays — and is a mixture of equity and debt financing.

The group has said it will invest heavily in data and operational infrastructure as well as improving menu choice and turnaround time.

Gousto was launched by former bankers Timo Boldt and James Carter in 2012.
