Charles Wells, the brewer and pub operator, has created a new role that focuses on improving its on-line presence.

Alex Crawford has been appointed to the position of digital content assistant. According to Eagle Star, the company’s magazine for its licensees, Crawford will help pubs reach new audiences using social media.

He said: “If I was to sum up my role in one line, it would be, ‘to make sure that our digital presence best demonstrates who we are as a company, and what we do’.

“Our online audience is massive and we need to make sure we’re sending the right messages out.”

According to Eagle Star, posts on Charles Wells and Wells & Young’s twitter feeds reached 320,000 users in August alone. Crawford said: “The key is to get familiar with it.”
