Zonal, the UK’s leading Epos provider to the hospitality industry, has launched its new iServe application, which it says will enable operators to convert any Apple mobile device into a hand-held terminal, simply and cost-effectively.

The company said that iServe would “at a stroke transform the working lives of staff in pubs, bars and restaurants” by turning an existing iOS mobile device such as an iPad or iPod touch into a portable Epos system.

Stuart McLean, managing director of Zonal, said: “The iServe solution delivers a slick user experience for staff so they can take orders, process payments and provide better service to customers anywhere in the venue. By reducing the time it takes to place an order and cutting down on excessive waiting for customers, iServe will not only deliver business efficiencies but trials show that it can also significantly increase revenue in busy venues.

“Integrated with the EPoS system in real time, iServe gives the front-of-house team access to live stock, pricing and promotions data just like any other till, as well as prompting them with those all-important upsell options. Because there’s no duplication of data across different systems, it’s also very easy to implement across big brands.

“The use of iOS devices as mobile tills supplies big benefits in terms of cost, portability and a greater range of functionality. In addition, we’ve seen the benefits of working with an operating system that’s so user-friendly that staff training is minimal; iServe works in such an intuitive way that users can pick up the device and get started almost immediately.”

iServe is now available to operators, and is the first major project to be developed with TXD, Zonal’s digital marketing agency. Along with the iZone suite of marketing applications, it delivers a key part of Zonal’s ‘Big EPoS’ strategy, transforming the traditional EPoS system into a customer engagement hub for hospitality businesses.
