A family of ex-publicans has set up Connoisseur Ales Brewery in St Helens, Lancashire, which will brew 40 – 60 casks of ale each week to sell to the on-trade.

The brewery, which has been set up by the Yates family, will have an initial range of ales that includes two bitters, a stout, a mild, a porter and an Indian Pale Ale.

Kevin Yates, who established Connoisseur with his parents Mark and Gillian, told M&C Report that they will install a bottling facility at the brewery in 2015 to sell its beers online and wholesale.

The Yates family has been running pubs together for the last ten years and Mark has previously worked at the Wapping micro-brewery at Liverpool’s Baltic Fleet pub.
