Hawkes Brewing Company, the craft cider producer led by Simon Wright, a former Greene King and InBev marketing executive, is on track to open its first cider house in London later this summer.
The company, which has its cider listed in pubs operated by M&B and Young’s amongst others, is aiming to open one of the first dedicated cider houses in London at Forest Gate, at the Arches in Winchelsea Road.
Last year, the company joined the government-funded GrowthAccelerator programme, aimed at companies with the potential to double either their turnover or employees within three years, with Wright saying that it would look to bring on board external investors within the next 12 months.
According to the Sunday Express, the company is also looking to move into its own dedicated brewery within the next year.
Earlier this year the company launched its Urban Orchard craft cider. Following the launch of its hugely successful alcoholic ginger beer, the craft cider was Hawkes’ first foray into cider making.
