Brains, the Welsh brewer and pub operator, has appointed industry veteran Alistair Arkley as a non-executive director.
Arkley, who has worked in the drinks industry for nearly 30 years, has a history with Camerons Brewery in Hartlepool, Belhaven Brewery and Westons Cider; he also formed tenanted pub company Century Inns in 1991.
Currently chairman of a pub and restaurant group Chameleon and non-executive chairman of a China manufacturing company, Arkley said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining this iconic Welsh business with such a proud tradition and to be working with the board to capitalise on the opportunities that exist as the country recovers from the recession.”
John Rhys, chairman at Brains, said: “With his vast and varied experience in the hospitality industry, we look forward to Alistair making a significant contribution in helping us drive our business forward as a family-owned independent company. His broader experience in a range of other businesses and public sector organisations will add value to our board.”
