Anheuser-Busch InBev NV plans to invest c$1.5bn on upgrading its US operations over the next three years.

The maker of Budweiser and Stella Artois will spend $850m on brewery and packaging projects, $720m on measures to boost efficiency, and $220m on new product development.

This follows a three-year $1bn programme that culminated in 2014, which included new cider products such as Stella Artois Cidre and Johnny Appleseed, and developing recloseable aluminium bottles.

More than $250m worth of projects in the US are already in progress, including the expansion of a facility in St Louis that makes aluminium Bud Light bottles.
