Anheuser-Busch InBev has said it plans to close London’s Stag Brewery by the end of the year.

The historic brewery, which produces Budweiser for the UK, had originally been set to close in 2009 after InBev’s $52bn takeover in November 2008 of Anheuser-Busch, but was given a reprieve due to strong demand for the brand in the UK.

Now the brewery has confirmed it will sell the site for redevelopment.

A-B InBev said the Magor and Samlesbury breweries are able to handle the additional volume from Stag’s closure.
