Zia Lucia sees potential to reach 100 sites in five years as it announces the rollout of a new franchise model.

The London-based independent pizzeria will launch its next site in Chelsea this month, after its most recent opening in Reading marking the first outside of London.

Its first independent pizzeria opened on Holloway Road in 2016, launching 10 eponymous sites across London over the past eight years, including restaurants in Wandsworth, Canary Wharf, Aldgate East, Balham, West Hampstead and Reading. The group’s newest site - its 11th - launches on Fulham Broadway on 25 July.

On the back of the group’s expansion efforts across London, founders Gianluca D’Angelo and Claudio Vescovo are keen to expand further into new markets across Europe and the Middle East, via a new franchise model, teaming up with GNF Worldwide as a franchise business partner.

D’Angelo said, “We have received lots of inbound interest to bring Zia Lucia to new markets. We strongly believe there is a massive space in Europe and beyond for an innovative pizza brand like us.

”Our differentiated product offering anchored around the four doughs coupled with the true Italian heritage of the group allow us to offer something distinctive in the casual dining segment.

”We will partner only with high quality and vision-aligned operators while continuing to grow our corporate stores in a controlled way. We see a path towards 100 stores in the next five years.”
