Nick Desai, the co-founder of microbrewery, pub and restaurant operator, Zerodegrees, has told M&C Report the company has been approached by Working Council to open a brewpub in its £150m town centre redevelopment.

Desai said the company was keen to secure a foothold in Surrey and had been approached by the council to take form part of its plans for Bandstand Square.

He said: “It’s very much a long-term project. They are talking about finishing this in 2021 but they are very keen to have a brewery there so they got us along. It’s a really interesting site.”

Desai said for the moment he is targeting Guildford as the most likely location for the next Zerodegrees site.

He said: “Surrey is our top target but we want to hear from anyone who has a site we might be interested in. We are looking at affluent suburbs rather than central locations but we would also really like to be involved in the Kings Cross regeneration.”

Desai said sites need to be a minimum 4,000 sqft.
