Zaap Thai, the street food concept from restaurant group Sukho Group has secured its fourth site – the former Gourmet Burger Kitchen unit in York.

Located at 7, Lendal, the site is due to open in around six weeks, with work already underway on the fit-out.

Zaap already has sites in Leeds, Nottingham and Newcastle, while its sister brand Sukhothai operates four restaurants – two in Leeds and one each in Harrogate and Chapel Allerton.

A spokesperson for Sukho Group told MCA that the 100-cover restaurant would be spread across two floors, and would have a Bangkok street theme throughout, with tuk tuk booth seating. “We are very excited to open in York as we have been looking for a suitable site for over two years,” they said.

Simon Carter, who heads up Sukhothai, previously told MCA that the Zaap brand was conceived with roll-out porential.
