Alan Yau, one of the UK’s most revered and influential restaurateurs, is believed to be teaming up with the owners of the Sass Café in Monaco to open a new dim sum restaurant in the country early next year, M&C Report understands.

Yau, who has lined up a number of openings in London for next year, is teaming up with Samy Sass for the new venture that will open in January with aim of becoming a Michelin standard operation.

Salvador ‘Sassa’ Treves and his son Samy Sass currently operate the celebrity-friendly Sass Café in Monaco and are set to open a further operation in Dubai.

Yau is set to open Duck & Rice, his new Chinese gastro pub, on the former Endurance pub site in Soho’s Berwick Street, early next year.

Earlier this year, the founder of Wagamama acquired the Automat American Brasserie site in London’s Mayfair with a Busaba Eathai/Naamyaa type concept mooted for the ground floor and an upscale Chinese restaurant for the basement.
