Wok&Go, the Asian food franchise operation led by Des Pheby, has signed a £1.5m franchise agreement with a London-based investment group that’s expected to open a further 16 sites over the next 18 months.
The group currently operates 15 sites, including one in Kuwait that opened last year. The company has said launches in mainland Europe and the US were “coming soon”.
Last year Wok&Go appointed Cushman & Wakefield to find 10 more sites as it looked to expand across the UK during 2013/2014. The group is targeting premises on the edge of prime retail units with A3/A5 planning consent, ranging from 74.32 sq m (800 sq ft) to 111.48 sq m (1,200 sq ft) in high footfall locations such as primary shopping centres, high streets and “high-quality” retail parks.
Recent UK openings have been at Western Road in Brighton, the Brookgate development in Cambridge, and a unit in Cardiff.
The concept, which was launch in 2007, offers a range of Asian dishes from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Japan.
