Simon Wilkinson has made his first managerial appointments since taking over as managing director of Casual Dining Group brands Café Rouge, Oriel and Belgo, MCA has learnt.

Marcia Genjelian, formerly of Novus Leisure, has been made marketing director, while Bruno Balle has joined as executive chef from Bill’s, where he headed up the Chef’s Academy.

Wilkinson said: “I am very happy that we have attracted someone of the calibre of Bruno to our business, he will work closely with the CDG Executive Chef Martin Caws to drive forward our food innovation & quality. Marcia has been with the business for a few months making a major impact , so I am delighted to promote her to marketing director.”

Wilkinson was appointed to his new role in June as part of a reshuffle of Apollo-backed CDG’s senior team. Previous Café Rouge managing director, James Spragg, was made chief operating officer for the wider business at the same time. Responsibility for the La Tasca brand, which Wilkinson had previously headed up, moved to Las Iguanas managing director, Mos Shamel.
