Wendy’s has confirmed the opening of six new bricks-and-mortar restaurants as part of its expansion across the UK.

The Ohio-based QSR chain will open in Derby, Leeds, Peterborough, Guildford, Cambridge, and Middlesborough.

Wendy’s launched in the UK in 2021 and currently operates c30 sites in the country, comprising both restaurants and delivery kitchens.

Speaking on an investor call following Wendy’s Q2 trading update earlier this summer, CEO Todd Penegor and CFO Gunther Plosch said the UK business had seen like-for-like growth and was making progress towards improving profitability and restaurant margin.

Wendy’s aims to grow the estate to 40 UK sites by the end of the year, including bricks and mortar, dark kitchens, and drive-thrus.

Abigail Pringle, chief development officer for The Wendy’s Company, said: “As we continue to expand across the country, we are excited to bring more Wendy’s to more people. We have an exciting pipeline of restaurant openings that will bring Brits fresh options where they work, live and play.”
