Waka has secured a second site for its Peruvian-Japanese food to go concept, at 120 Houndsditch, in the City.

The new central London site, due to open later this summer, comes after the business decided to close its flagship site lain Eastcheap last year, only a month after opening, after it was plagued with problems – namely a flood in the basement.

Waka opened what was its second site in the WestWorks building in White City Place, west London, last April, but had been looking for a replacement site in a central City location since the Eastcheap closure. The new site will offer takeaway only.

Waka is run by the Sopromadze family, who previously operated The Criterion restaurant in Piccadilly.

In 2017 managing director Irakli Sopromadze told MCA it was looking to add five to 10 sites in London over the next five years.
