Wahaca and Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), the Capricorn Ventures-backed brand, have both opened new sites on the former Waterloo Brasserie unit in London.

The Mexican street food restaurant concept led by Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, has opened in the basement of the site opposite The Old Vic at Waterloo for iots 10th site in the capital, while GBK occupies the ground floor.


Wahaca recently opened its ninth site in London’s Islington on the site of the former Pitcher & Piano site in Upper Street.

The group is also thought to be eyeing possible sites in Brixton and St Paul’s. The company believes it can eventually grow to an estate of between 15 to 20 restaurants in Greater London.


GBK currently operates 59 sites in the UK.
