Las Iguanas, the Bowmark Capital-backed bar-restaurant concept, has appointed industry veteran Ian Neill as its new non-executive chairman. Neill, who also chairs Wagamama – having previously led the group as chief executive – replaces Mark Jones, who stepped down earlier this year to focus on his other business interests. He will work with founders Eren Ali and Ajith Jaya-Wickrema on the rollout of the Latin-American concept, following its refinancing with Bowmark last year. He said: “I have known Eren and Ajith a number of years and watched them meticulously build Las Iguanas. I am now delighted to be able to join them, and the executive team, to help take Las Iguanas to the next stage of development. “Las Iguanas has a unique, well-executed offer, which I believe has great potential for further expansion.” Ali, chief executive, added: “We are delighted to have Ian on board. His experience in the casual dining market is second to none and he will be an invaluable addition to the team.” Neill joins the group as an investing director.
