Wagamama, the David Campbell-led group, will continue its global expansion this month with the opening of a new 280-seat restaurant on Hail Street in Jeddah, just opposite Tahlia Walkway.

This will be the brand’s first location in Saudi Arabia following the success of the restaurants elsewhere on the Arabian peninsula - in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Wagamama’s franchise partner in this exciting new territory is the Prestige Restaurant and Cafes Company, part of one of Saudi Arabia’s most successful companies.

Earlier this year, the Duke Street Capital-backed chain, signed deals to make its debuts in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy

The company currently operates 150 sites across 16 countries, with 118 restaurants in the UK alone.

Brian Johnston, international managing director said: “It’s always exciting to be opening in a new country and Saudi Arabia is no exception. It’s fantastic to be opening the doors to a restaurant for the very first time in Jeddah, where Wagamama will continue to reinforce our global message of positive eating by using fresh ingredients, served in atmospheric surroundings. This is an exciting time for all of us at Wagamama and we look forward to hearing what our new and valued customers in Jeddah make of our arrival. Needless to say, there is huge potential in Saudi Arabia so this is a big moment for us.”
