Wagamama, the David Campbell-led chain, has lined up another flagship opening in central London, M&C understands.

The c115-strong group, which opened a flagship site in Great Marlborough Street last year, is understood to have secured the restaurant unit at the 81 Dean Street development in Soho on the corner of Dean Street and Richmond Buildings.

The new development is proposed to house a restaurant at ground & basement and 18 high-spec apartments including two additional storeys of roof-top penthouses with large terrace areas.

Earlier this month, the company appointed Stephen Boyce, currently head of property at Arcadia, as its new property director, as it looks to open c45 new sites over the next three years.

Boyce will join the c115-strong company later in the year, taking over from interim director of property John Ritchie.

Simon Cope, the group’s global brand director, told M&C last November that the company would continue to grow its UK estate with the opening of “dramatic” sites such as its Trafford Centre and Great Marlborough Street restaurants.

Last year, the company, which also plans to undertake 50 refurbishments over the next three years, placed three of its London-based sites on the market as part of a continual review of its estate.

The company instructed Jones Lang LaSalle to market its sites in Old Broad Street, Earl’s Court and Hampstead.
