Wagamama is to open its first international outlet under the ownership of The Restaurant Group.

The brand’s third New York restaurant will open in Murray Hill tomorrow.

To celebrate the opening, Wagamama will offer its first exclusive dish in the US, for a limited time and only in the new location. Available for one month, the Hot Katsu curry is a decribed as a fiery version of the restaurant chain’s iconic Chicken Katsu curry, a dish ordered 3.5 million times a year in the UK alone.

Meanwhile, in the UK the group has launched its first vegan full English breakfast. The “full vegan” includes two pieces of bacon made with seitan - a meat substitute made from gluten - and beetroot and seitan sausages instead of pork. Eggs have been replaced by scrambled turmeric tofu, while the meal also comes with grilled tomato, wilted spinach, sautéed sweet potato and shiitake mushrooms. The breakfast launches at Wagamama’s Gatwick and Heathrow restaurants this week.
