UberEats has confirmed it is to launch in Manchester as it strengthens to its team to roll out across the UK.

As flagged up by MCA last month, the group has appointed Lizzie Lang as Restaurant Partnership Launcher - UK Expansion, to recruit restaurants for this year’s launch in Manchester.

The group has also taken on Daniel Calvert as head of partnerships for UberEats in London.

Matthew Proust, Manchester’s general manager at UberEats, said: “Manchester’s culinary scene is thriving at the moment but until now, you had to visit the restaurant to experience the food and drink. With UberEats, Mancunian foodies can enjoy dishes from eateries that wouldn’t normally deliver, allowing them to relish in restaurant-worthy food in the comfort of their own homes.”

Simon Potts, managing director at the Alchemist, said: “We’re excited to be one of the first bar and restaurants in Manchester to partner with UberEats following its success in London.”

The service will initially only be available in central Manchester but plans to expand its reach across the city in the coming months.

The group launched in London’s Zone 1 in the summer and expanded into Zone 2 in September – increasing the number of restaurants available to 500.

UberEats is also thought to be planning launches in Birmingham and Leeds following the Manchester launch.
