Turtle Bay, the Piper-backed Caribbean chain, has lined up a further six openings, as it looks to open 10 new sites in total this year.

The company yesterday confirmed it would open a new site at Sunley House, Winchester, after agreeing a new 20-year lease for the ground floor and basement of the property.

The letting involves a proposed extension at ground floor level, which would see the total space occupied increase to 4,200sq ft.

At the same time the 36-strong group, which is gearing up to launch two further sites in Germany, has lined up openings in Northampton, Wembley, Plymouth and Peterborough, with the latter set to open later this month.

The company began an overseas expansion play with an opening in Dresden, Germany, late last year.

The group has already got a pipeline of sites secured for the country, with openings lined up in Leipzig, Oberhausen, Braunschweig and Cologne.

Adam Bullas, licensed leisure director at Savills, which acted on the Winchester deal, said: “We are pleased to have supported Turtle Bay’s ongoing expansion in the UK with this new restaurant, particularly as competition for optimum trading space in Winchester is so strong. With prominent return frontage on the corner of Jewry Street and St George’s Street, Sunley House is ideally located to benefit from a high level of footfall and vehicular traffic.”

Cokayne-Frifth represented the landlord in the Winchester deal.
