Turtle Bay, the six-strong Caribbean restaurant chain led by Aj Jaya-Wickrema, is looking to grow a pipeline of sites in the north west, including two in Manchester.

The group, which is set to open in Birmingham this month, is in talks on sites in Manchester’s Oxford Street and Oldham Street for openings over the next 12 months.

It is also believed to be in talks to secure a site in Preston.

The company, which is backed by Piper Private Equity, is understood to be in eyeing an opening in Ealing and at the Land Securities development of the former Sussex House site in Crawley.

It has a further opening lined up in Bath for this summer.

The company, in which Piper has made a £6m investment, is also believed to be looking at possible locations in Cardiff.

It plans to open a further 20 outlets over the next three to five years.
