TRG Concessions won two awards and received a commendation at the fifth annual Airport Food & Beverage Conference & Awards (“FAB”) on Thursday evening in Switzerland.

The Nicholas Culpeper won Outstanding Originality in Airport Food & Beverage, with judges commending TRG for its innovation, design and food offer.

Located in Gatwick’s North Terminal, The Nicholas Culpeper opened in February 2016 and features the world’s first airport gin distillery alongside an exciting menu of classic British pub food and drinks, with a twist.

Frankie & Benny’s received the FAB Consumer Choice Award, recognising the continued popularity of the brand amongst UK passengers at eight of the UKs leading airports.

In addition, TRG was highly commended for Wondertree in the Airport Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year category.

Developed with Giraffe Concepts Limited and located at Heathrow Terminal 2 and Gatwick’s South Terminal, Wondertree is a family-friendly all-day casual dining and cafe concept.

Nick Ayerst, managing director of TRG Concessions, said: “The award wins are a fantastic achievement for TRG Concessions and testament to our market leading brands and operations. For 25 years we have been working with our airport partners to create innovative concepts that appeal to a wide range of passengers, these awards are recognition of the commitment, effort and expertise of our team.”

At the same time, JD Wetherspoon’s The Windmill was named the world’s best airport pub at the awards.

Two other Wetherspoon pubs at Birmingham Airport and at Liverpool Lime Street Station also won awards.

Wetherspoon head of property and acquisitions, Jon Randall said: ‘The award is testament to the amazing efforts of manager Michael Wilkins and his team of 160 staff who serve great food and drink in a superb looking pub. We are equally proud of the awards to Wetherspoon at Birmingham Airport and The North Western at Liverpool Lime Street Station.’
