It is time to nominate the best companies, concepts and individuals the eating and drinking-out market has to offer. Following the launch of the Retailers’ Retailer of the Year Awards, M&C Report’s prestigious annual awards programme, leading executives from the market are invited to nominate finalists for the nine category. This can be done at the awards website: These awards are highly credible – and really matter – because they are voted for by business leaders from the marketplace. They are the only industry awards, voted for by the industry itself. These awards are not about supermarket groups or clothing chains – The Retailers’ Retailer of the Year Awards, in their 12th year, take their name because they identify retailing excellence in the eating and drinking-out market. Market positioning, attention to detail and flawless execution are the hallmarks of past and present winners. Nominations will be collated into shortlists by M&C and then business leaders from the market will be invited to choose the winners in January. There are nine categories. With last year’s winners in brackets, they are: Emerging Concept (Le Pain Quotidien) Best Concept (Gaucho Grill) Best Company (Wagamama) Revitalised Brand (McDonald’s) Best Venue (Alma De Cuba, Liverpool) Deal of the Year (Strada/Tragus) Investor of the Year (Richard Caring) Rising Star (Dominic Lake, Patrick Clayton-Malone and Cass Titcombe, Canteen) Best Individual – The Retailers’ Retailer (Graham Turner, Tragus). The winners will be announced at a prestigious industry awards dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London’s Mayfair on the evening of 4 March, 2009. This nominations process will run until 19 December 2008.
