Trispan-backed fried chicken concept Thunderbird has launched its third dark kitchen.

Located in Croydon’s Foodstars kitchen, the site is Thunderbird’s first outside of London, and follows delivery-only openings in Shoreditch and Battersea.

Whilst its latest kitchen will continue to offer Thunderbird’s traditional menu of chicken burgers, wings, strips and fries via Deliveroo and Uber Eats, it will also house the business’ recently launched plant-based virtual brand – Jackfruit Junkie – with menu items including the Junkie Burger and ‘Bluffalo Burger’ on offer.

“Jackfruit Junkie is enabling us to showcase our newly developed indulgent vegan food offering,” said founder Matt Harris. “Based on the same principles I had when setting up Thunderbird Fried Chicken, we strive for perfection in delivering the most crave-worthy plant-based food you can find. We hope people will agree.”

Last February, the group closed its original bricks and mortar restaurant in Brixton after just one year of trading. It currently operates three dine-in sites in Charing Cross, Paddington and The O2.
