The Ledbury in London’s Notting Hill was last night named the UK’s best restaurant at the National Restaurant Awards, organised by M&C Report’s sister publication Restaurant Magazine. The venue, which has already been named best for food by Zagat and best new restaurant by Harden’s guide, came out ahead of Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal for the award. Pollen Street Social was named London’s best new restaurant of the year. Hawksmoor in Seven Dials, which was named best venue at this year’s Retailers’ Retailer, picked up the restaurateurs’ choice award, while best gastropub went to the Sportsman in Kent. The award winners are picked by the National Restaurant Awards academy, which is made up of more than 300 chefs, restaurateurs and critics.
